Did you know that a high number of germs that you come in contact with each day are actually in your home? This may be a shock to some but it is quite true.

To help you remain free from illness we want to give you our “five hand washing moments at home”.

Number One

Before and after preparing food. A majority of people know that you should wash your hands after handling raw meet but in fact you should wash your hands before and after preparing each meal.

Number Two

After using the toilet. This is a pretty basic one that most people know. However, not everyone takes action on this information. Studies show that 60% of males and 40% of females don’t wash their hands after using the restroom.

Number Three

After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. 80% of all communicable diseases are transferred by touch. So if you are sick, make sure to constantly wash your hands, especially if you are minding small children at home.

Number Four

After touching an animal. Many people have pets and they often don’t realize the germs that they can carry. Even a quick rub of your dog can transfer loads of germs. Make sure to wash your hands!

Number Five

After touching garbage. Again, this is a very obvious point. However, people often don’t wash their hands unless they are visibly dirty after handling garbage. Be sure to wash your hands, even after touching the bag.
