Sustainability

Cannon are continually looking for innovative methods to reduce the impact our activities have on the environment.  We are keenly aware of our responsibilities and have achieved ISO 14001 accreditation across our business.

The average age of our Cannon fleet is less than 3 years and all of our vehicles are converted to LPG and meet the Euro 4 emission regulations.  This has reduced our average Co2 per kilometre by 10% in one year.

We are delighted to be the sole suppliers of Activap a unique germicide that is non-toxic and completely safe. Containing only active natural ingredients Activap poses no threat to the environment and offers 99.999% protection against bacteria found in sanitary and other hygiene waste.  The result is an anti-bacterial system powerful enough to target odour and infection causing bacteria rendering them harmless- even those as hazardous as Hepatitis B and C and HIV.

Alongside our commitment to environmentally friendly germicides, Cannon is also committed to reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill.  We have recently carried out a successful trial utilising waste compactors in our Cork Branch which have undergone audits by local councils.  This trial has proven very successful resulting in a reduction in the number of vehicles collecting and transporting waste by approximately 70 %.  Cannon now plan to roll out this initiative to all of our branches nationwide.
